KENDRICK LAMAR, LUPITA NYONG’O, MARGARET QUALLEY & NANA KOMATSU FOR CHANEL SS25 EYEWEAR

By Laura GIMÉNEZ JIMÉNEZ

“Eyes are often the first point of connection with people; glasses are an excellent way to express something immediate about myself.” – Lupita Nyong’o.

For Spring-Summer 2025, Chanel unveils a bold new eyewear campaign that places artistry, individuality, and character at its core. Photographed by Karim Sadli, the campaign captures four iconic figures—Kendrick Lamar, Lupita Nyong’o, Margaret Qualley, and Nana Komatsu—each of whom reflects the Maison’s enduring spirit of creativity and self-expression.

Wearing a selection of signature frames and newly reimagined styles, the cast offers a striking study in presence and poise. Each portrait becomes a window into the personality and creative soul of its subject—an exploration of vision, both literal and figurative.

Kendrick Lamar, Chanel ambassador and multi-awarded artist with both Grammy and Pulitzer distinctions, represents the intersection of modern legacy and innovation.

“Chanel has a timeless legacy and that is always something I can get behind. Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses.”Kendrick Lamar

Joining Lamar is Japanese actress and Chanel ambassador Nana Komatsu, whose filmography includes The World of Kanako, Silence, and The Last 10 Years. Her instinctive approach to acting finds resonance with the House’s philosophy.

“Chanel’s concept of ‘paradox’ is an important code to me. The coexistence of contrasting elements such as strength and delicacy, modern and classic, and simplicity and elegance have something in common with my style as well as my form of expression. Gabrielle Chanel’s attitude to life has been a big source of inspiration for me: her free spirit and her stance of not being bound by existing rules.” Nana Komatsu

Longtime Chanel muse Margaret Qualley, acclaimed for her recent performance in The Substance, brings a personal dimension to the story.

“I’ve been working with Chanel for over a decade now, first as a baby model and now of course as an actress. The fact that they cast me when I was sixteen made me feel so special, and the honor is not lost on me now. I’m very grateful to be a part of the Chanel family.”Margaret Qualley

Completing the cast is Lupita Nyong’o, the Academy Award-winning Kenyan actress, producer, and bestselling author. Her appearance in this campaign marks her first as an official Chanel ambassador—a natural evolution of her long-standing relationship with the House.

“The House of Chanel was one of my first supporters. I remember wearing Chanel as early as 2013 when my first film, 12 Years a Slave, was released. Over the years, the House has often invited me to shows and events and has always treated me with the utmost care. So, when they approached me to be an ambassador and to be the face of a campaign, I felt very honored and ready. Chanel is an important historical brand, and I’m very happy and proud to add to that legacy.” Lupita Nyong’o

With this cast of singular talents and powerful presences, the Chanel Spring-Summer 2025 Eyewear campaign becomes more than a style moment—it is a meditation on identity, artistry, and the clarity of vision.
