UNIQLO APPOINTS CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE FOR THE LAUNCH OF « UNIQLO U »

Uniqlo and Christophe Lemaire have always been a success story ever since they began collaborating in October last year with the launch of the Uniqlo and Lemaire line. Today, the fashion behemoth announced a new union with the French designer as he was just appointed Artistic Director of the newly created Paris R&D center as well as the House’s new LifeWear line called « Uniqlo U ». The first collection will hit the stores worldwide for the autumn-winter 2016 season under the artistic direction of Christophe Lemaire and his team. « Uniqlo U » is about creating clothes that are comfortable and adapted to the everyday life, a philosophy shared between Uniqlo and Christophe Lemaire. The designer said he was « inspired by Uniqlo’s attachment to developing products, to quality and teamwork, » adding he was « thrilled to join the team in charge of designing Uniqlo LifeWear, » which he describes as « clothes that appeal to people all around the world. » As for the Uniqlo R&D center, it will be dedicated to product and fabric development and will complete the work of other research departments in Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, and Los Angeles.
