‘COMMANDES TRES SPECIALES’ BY J.M. WESTON

By Alice Butterlin

J.M. Weston’s artistic director Olivier Saillard is known for his innovative ways of presenting the luxury shoemaker’s collections. More than a classic presentation, his initiatives take the form of performances. After the « Défilé pour 27 chaussures » in June 2018 at the Grand Palais, Saillard is back with the « Commandes très spéciales » performance that took place yesterday night in the charming Café de l’Epoque, a historic bistrot that opened in 1828. The 1930s decor of the cafe was the stomping ground for avant-garde designs featuring a new rendition of the iconic 180 Mocassin. The shoe has been brought to new heights with a tripled sole that instantly made the mocassin a bit more punk.

Praised by Parisian waiters for its functionality and classic elegance, the J.M. Weston shoe is a staple in cafes. The collection, worn by the make-believe waiters, showcased seventeen variations of the 180, in perforated leather, with stitching that resembled abstract drawings or embroidered by the Maison Lesage. It also serves as an hommage to the incredible craftsmanship displayed in the Limoges manufactures. Available in black and Bergeronnette brown, the mocassin will be available in February of this year.
