COMME DES GARÇONS HOMME PLUS SS21

By Crash

Rei Kawakubo presented the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus SS21 collection yesterday in Tokyo, unveiling a cast of metallic clad models with larger than life wigs that recalled a mad scientist or Dragon Ball Z. Entitled « Metal Outlaw », the collection revolves around the irresistible sheen of metallic objects glistening under the sun. Kawakubo states: « It is my wish that the strength of metal, the strength that wouldn’t yield to any pressure or force, and the strength that will give birth to hope that we need to overcome the various hardships we now face, will all overlap in this collection. »

A striking liquid metal costume opens the show with stitching details on the blazer, followed by relaxed silver pants held by suspenders with a matching jacket, a padded blazer with a crisp white collar shirt, straight knee-length silver skirts and an array of cut-out jackets with silver inlays. Overall, the collection is playful with silhouettes reminiscent of a school boy aesthetic, but also blends strength and futuristic elements.

It is also the occasion to debut a new collaboration with Nike on black and white Air Carnivore models with a CdG branding on the heel along with 3M material.
