Zippin’ up my boots, Goin’ back to my roots…

That’s the vibe at Delvaux this season, as it launches ‘Winter Glow’, the 2021 holidays collection. All roads do lead back home after all, or so the saying goes, so back to Belgium it is then for the brand that is so Belgian, it’s actually older than the Kingdom of Belgium itself. (Founded in 1829 by the pioneering Charles Delvaux, Belgium was established as an independent state one year later in 1830.) In fact, Delvaux is the oldest Fine Leather Goods house in the world and after almost two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation and trailblazing, the technical savoir-faire at the house is undeniable.

The atelier is full of artisans who have handed their skills down from generation to generation, and the Golden Book or ‘Livre d’Or’ is a documentation of the long and rich heritage there. Containing the sketches, descriptions, designs and details of more than 3000 handbags created at Delvaux since 1829, it is continually updated with any new creations, still to this day.

Sculptural lines and exceptional leather have long defined the houses creations, instantly recognizable by their quality, sophistication and attention to detail. Delvaux is the inventor of the modern handbag, having filed in 1908 the first ever leather handbag patent the Delvaux handbags have become iconic classics.Winter Glow is a rethinking and reimagining of these classics, a tale of a magical winter night, culminating under a cotton candy sky in the enchanted forests of Belgium. The great return home after a long road trip across Europe through bitter cold days and icy, dark nights. The enveloping feeling of warmth and familiarity, like a soft haven. The frosty color palette was inspired by the tones of magical Nordic lights, optic white through to cool icy grey. A blank slate, it’s new beginnings and freedom, luminous and immaculate the snowy cozy tones promise happy holidays and end-of-year celebrations all round.
