DIOR LADY ART #5

By Crash

It’s already the fifth edition of the Dior Lady Art initiative, which brings together each year the most cutting edge artists with the most iconic bag of the house: the Lady Dior. Ten artists and collectives from all over the world have taken the time to reimagine the Lady Dior, giving it a brand new skin and a different purpose. From China to Madagascar, from India to South Africa and from Russia to the United States, each and everyone of them has created a model of their own, which reflects their inspirations, personality and culture. Each bag captures a bit of their work.

Today, focus on Judy Chicago and her hypnotic Lady Dior, completely iridescent with pearly and metallic effects made thanks to a dichroic treatment. One of the founders of feminist art, she combats patriarchal ideas through her art and has developed a singular aesthetic questioning male domination and celebrating the multiple facets of women. For these bags, she has chosen a specific painting for inspiration, creating wonderful and whimsical pieces. Through a captivating play of light, the dazzling rainbow reflections and sensual shell-like curves call upon plural femininity.
