BACKSTAGE AT DIOR MEN’S WINTER 24 FASHION SHOW

By Aicha NDIAYE

Dior unveils its Winter 24 Menswear Collection by Kim Jones, this Friday in Paris. The creative director introduces his first men’s couture line, alongside with the ready to wear collection.

The collection pays tribute to the friendship between Kim Jones’ uncle, the dancer and photographer Colin Jones, and the iconic ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev.

The theatrical runway show, where models walked on a circular runway, (like a ballet presentation) featuring the memorable soundtrack from Romeo & Juliette (composed by Sergei Prokofiev and edited by Max Richter), matches with some pieces of the collection borrowed from dancers’ wardrobe such as tights, tops adorned with jewellery, knee high socks and ballet flats.

The designer revisits archives of the French Luxury House, through some tailoring pieces mainly inspired by Yves Saint Laurent at his time at Dior.

The ready-to-wear Collection including a neutral color palette, was minimal, sober and elegant, focusing on leather jackets, zipped shorts, wool jumpsuits, straight well cut pants, or oblique suits.

The Dior Men’s Winter 24 Collection combines the art of menswear with sobriety, through looks imbued with absolute elegance.
