DIOR REVIVES THE FORMER ROYAL ABBEY’S GARDEN
By Iris JEANSON
After supporting the restoration of the Queen’s Hamlet at Versailles and its partnership with the Jardin des Tuileries, Christian Dior Parfums has now turned its attention to the cloister garden of the former Royal Abbey in Saint-Denis—now home to one of the prestigious Houses of Education of the Légion d’Honneur. Originally redesigned in 2002 to mark the bicentennial of the Légion, the garden suffered severe damage in 2023 due to a box tree moth infestation.
In response, Christian Dior Parfums partnered with the Grande Chancellerie of the Légion d’Honneur to restore the garden to its original vision, as imagined by architect Benjamin Mouton. Over four months, the space was meticulously revived, and the parterres of boxwood and lawns have now regained their former glory.
Dior has committed to two additional years of care and monitoring to ensure the garden flourishes. Through this gesture of cultural patronage, the brand reaffirms its role in protecting and enhancing France’s botanical, and architectural treasures.
This initiative is part of Les Jardins Culturels Dior, a cultural program dedicated to the preservation and celebration of historical gardens and their artistic dialogue with contemporary creativity.
