DISCOVER THE ALEXANDER McQUEEN S/S 2020 CAMPAIGN

By Crash

For Spring/Summer 2020, the very talented designer Sarah Burton took Alexander Mcqueen in the Edwardian era, mixing elements from the past with a very contemporary structure. The show was a beautiful and romantic take on a long-forgotten time, with regal dresses hugging the waist and flaring dramatically. The sleeves were the focal point of the collection, puffy, pleated or butterfly and even leg-of-mutton. Delicately rinkled at times, the fabrics were either a delicate off-white, anthracite or printed with stripes and wild flowers. Shying away from sportswear, Burton concentrates on pure elegance with show-stopping gowns and precious embellishments. There’s also a big focus on tailoring, to reinvent the classic blazer-and-pant-look and elevate it to new standards. The cut, the layering and the unexpected fabrics all make the Alexander McQueen suits unparalleled. The house has just released the collection’s campaign, shot by Jamie Hawkesworth and starring Vivien Solari, Felice Noordhoff and Imaan Hammam. The washed-out photographs capture the timelessness of the pieces and their nostalgic feel.
