Titled « A very merry unbirthday to you », the video presentation for Japanese house Doublet’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection is as playful and cute as it gets, featuring the character of a bear in a full crochet suit. This bear loves holidays – Christmas, New Year’s, birthdays… you name it –  and finds himself quite bored in the Summertime compared to the jam-packed calendar of the Winter. To satisfy his need to please people and make them happy, the bear decides to sew a bunch of clothes – which turn out to be the S/S 2021 collection – and goes around town, knocking on strangers’ doors to give them some pieces as gifts. It’s the « unbirthday » celebration.

Overall the collection plays around the notion of comfort, warmth and childhood with pieces reminiscent of pajama-wear, complete with naive motifs and fluffy teddy-bear heads, lace shorts, hoodies, aprons, boxy silk shirts, bows and relaxed blazers. Discover the video below.
