DURAN LANTINK FW25: DURANIMAL
By Iris JEANSON
Dutch designer Duran Lantink unveiled his FW25 collection, Duranimal, a fearless fusion of prints, textures, and innovative silhouettes.
Animal prints dominated the runway—zebra-print pony hair jackets, repurposed cowskin from LVMH’s deadstock, and velvet leopard pieces. Unexpected combinations, including snakeskin with plaid, amplified Lantink’s playful aesthetic. A first-time collaboration with Sergio Rossi saw custom runway shoes, while some models were body-painted to fully embody the theme.
Moving away from exaggerated forms, Lantink embraced tapered silhouettes while maintaining drama with hand-knit merino wool dresses. Bureau Betak’s soon-to-be offices served as the unconventional venue, complemented by a cappella performances from Sorbonne-Université choristers. The haunting melodies extended beyond the show, reinforcing the collection’s artistic depth.
Western-inspired elements—varsity jackets, ‘bareback’ denim, and futuristic Wild West headwear—added a playful contrast. Opening and closing looks featured prosthetic body parts, turning models into action figures. “Everyone should feel empowered to create their own identity,” said Lantink.
With exclusive pieces at Dover Street Market and recognition from the Karl Lagerfeld Prize, Lantink cements his status as a pioneering designer. He is also one of the finalists for the Woolmark prize which is set for later this month.
