APPLE AND HERMES TEAM UP FOR THE APPLE WATCH HERMÈS COLLECTION

The news went public today: the historic French House Hermès is collaborating with the digital behemoth Apple on the launch of the Apple Watch Hermès collection. This new line will combine both Hermès and Apple’s expertise in their fields to offer, as from October 5th, 2015, a new experience in watchmaking. The stainless steel Apple Watches will come with finely crafted leather bands designed by Hermès. Three distinctive leather bands styles will be available: the Single Tour, the Double Tour, and the Cuff. This is probably the highest peek an inter-fields collaboration could reach: Complimenting Apple’s expertise in creating highly technological, contemporary, and visionary digital products, Hermès adds a refined, even more luxurious, and artisanal touch to this 3.0 timepiece. For sure an object of desire that will keep the Hermès and Apple aficionados longing for October! As Jonathan Ive, Apple’s chief design officer puts it: « Apple and Hermès make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design (…) Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Hermès collection is a true testament to that belief. »

Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès’ executive vice-president, agrees. « At Hermès, we strive to provide our clients with elegant, creative and functional objects for their everyday lives. » About the collaboration, Dumas goes further: « I see it as the establishment of an alliance in excellence; like horse and carriage, a perfect team ». It does sound like both Hermès and Apple have found in each other a perfect match. And it couldn’t thrill us more.

The Apple Watch Hermès will be available in selected Apple and Hermès stores in big cities worldwide as from October 5th, 2015. Each stainless steel case features an etching of the Hermès signature, and are customizable with three different dial designs inspired by the emblematic Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Hermès watches.
