FENDI PRESENTS MEN’S SS25 SHOW

By Chloe Edstein

The SS 2025 collection for menswear pays tribute to timeless House codes that date back to the debut of FENDI’s first men’s clothing in 1990.

The foundational pieces of that wardrobe now serve as puzzle pieces, creating a modern interpretation of luxury that embraces elements of contemporary masculinity. Once associated with a global elite, the concept of work and leisure uniforms is reimagined in delicate tones – a mineral palette of sorbet, mist, ivory, caramel, and buttermilk blended with soft blues, natural indigo, black, and forest green.

Blurring the lines between sports and formal attire, the concept of the FENDI Club is introduced, with its emblem proudly displayed like a whimsical coat of arms on breast pockets and buttons.

The collection celebrates the skill of the Selleria stitch from head to toe, which was taught to the Fendi family by Roman master saddlers in 1925. This technique is used in various ways, such as being re-imagined as a broken pinstripe suiting jacquard and woven as a stripe or tonal FF logo through linen and plush textures. It is also applied as a surface on Japanese boro denim and reduced to a minimalist frame on crisp wool outerwear and leather goods. The past is evoked by subtle shapes, such as a spacious fabric bomber jacket, flowing trench coat, and 3-button blazers paired with wide-legged slashed trousers. The conventional nature of clothing is altered by contoured accents: poplin shirt sleeves with slashes at the elbow that can be worn long or short, polo plackets winding from the neck to the rib, and asymmetric silk knits unbuttoning down the shoulder to create a breezy adaptability. Long, patch-pocket overshirts with silk ties are layered over pleated shorts and worn under short summer jackets in harmonious combinations of linen, leather, Madras check cotton, and ultralight suede.

The collection of accessories reflects the current obsession with Selleria, featuring items such as the Peekaboo ISeeU Soft bag and soft diagonal shoppers, as well as the new zippered Baguette Double crossbody bag and a patchwork Baguette made from multi-coloured offcuts from the Fendi ateliers. For shoes, the season’s contrast panelled Fendi Force sneakers are adorned with whipstitch details, and there are also moulded lug-sole loafers and patent leather or wax thread embroidered slip-on flats available.
