Fendi’s Spring/Summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection is a modern take on disco-age glamor, Kim Jones puts a spotlight on the diverse and powerful femininity that Fendi embodies. The inspiration for this season’s collection is the artist Antonio Lopez, a friend and contemporary of Karl Lagerfeld, whose work Kim Jones has revived in a bid to introduce him to a new generation. Lopez’s gestural brushstrokes appear in elegant abstraction across cream kaftans and silken shirting. His figurative drawings are translated into intarsia leathers, intricately engineered lace and shimmering jacquards. The accessories include a baguette and a peekaboo bag also in the theme of Lopez’s work along with enamel hair accessories with lily motifs and the Fendi first heel with a seventies spin.
