FENDI SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION 2024

By Martina Conte

Fendi’s women’s spring summer 2024 collection is a ‘visionary exploration where Kim Jones questions the ease of dressing with a certain Roman freedom, where imperfection becomes a more human perfection where luxury is found in comfort and tranquility.

Tailoring and masculine materials are applied to a more fluid and feminine sensibility when combined with silks and knits. A very strong example of this are organza strips of soft shearling are transformed into sponge-like summer skirts with work shirts. The main concept is that masculine utility and comfort are blended with a feminine touch, with the wearer’s agency in mind.

At the same time, Fendi’s past is made present by recurring codes and motifs dating back to the Maison’s beginnings. The common thread is the Saddle stitch, which links all the categories of the current collection to the past of fashion and leather goods. The Sella stitch, from its initial inspiration and creation by Roman master saddle makers, finds free form in leather bags and garments, then transforms into wire hardware on shoes and is reiterated in the jewelry of Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Artistic Director of Fendi Jewelry. Instead, the extravagant color palette is taken from Karl Lagerfeld’s women’s collection for spring/summer 1999.

In the bags of Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director Accessories and Menswear, an infinite multitude of styles, sizes, materials and techniques reflect the character of the wearer. The collection reprises Fendi’s pop iconography through the Fendi Peekaboo and Baguette, Origami and First bags, while introducing the new Flip, a shopper that folds into a clutch, with a playful, color-blocked construction.

This collection once again reaffirms that the Fendi woman is not just one, every woman is encouraged to be herself by embracing the idea of Roman freedom.
