GALERIE CAMILLE POUYFAUCON “UNE CHAMBRE À SOI” GROUP EXHIBITION

By Crash redaction

Camille Pouyfaucon Gallery presents a duo show by Léa Toutain and Eugénie Didier entitled Une chambre à soi (A Room of One’s Own), from February 16th to April 1st,  in its space at 19 rue Guénégaud, Paris.

The exhibition, whose title is borrowed from Virginia Woolf’s essay, refers to the intimate nature of the two artists’ works, and the importance of having one’s own mental space for artistic creation.
Eugénie and Léa both use their own photographs of everyday interior scenes and stolen moments. They are neighbors of the studio, sharing the same physical space, while being each in their own mental and artistic space. The two painters at any rate, they highlight the importance of having one’s own intimate and personal space, hence the title of the exhibition.

Eugénie Didier, trained photographer, uses precise and original framing to evoke the banal through her paintings. Her images reflect his childhood and tell of his youth spent in the Mediterranean lands.
Léa Toutain represents in her work scenes where the subjects seem to be totally absorbed by their occupations. The artist creates a reality without sketch thanks to fluid and spontaneous touches of paint.

Eugénie and Léa are artists of the intimate, focus on the interiority of the person and the deep spaces that make up everyday life.
