GIVENCHY UNVEILS THE SHARK LOCK BOOT PROJECT: A FUSION OF ART AND FASHION

By Crash redaction

Givenchy presents a new artistic venture entitled  the Shark Lock Boot Project. This new initiative reimagines the brand’s emblematic boot, presenting it in a fresh and innovative light. The project marks a new chapter for this timeless icon, showcasing it through documentary-style images and striking portraits that highlight its unique design.

The Shark Lock Boot Project is a testament to Givenchy’s longstanding commitment to creativity and collaboration. The project goes beyond traditional product-focused photography, pushing the boundaries of both art and fashion. It serves as a celebration of universality, emphasizing how art can transcend the classic confines of commercial imagery.

To bring this vision to life, the French fashion house enlisted the talents of London-based creative director Jamie Reid. Reid carefully selected four international artists, each of whom was given free rein to reinterpret the Shark Lock Boot through their own distinct creative lens. For this inaugural edition of the project, the artists and image-makers chosen are Alessandro Furchino Capria, Takashi Homma, Sharna Osborne, and Jet Swan.

The resulting works, comprising both photos and videos, offer a diverse and captivating exploration of the Shark Lock Boot. These creations highlight previously unseen aspects of the boot, from the craftsmanship involved in its leatherwork to the ingenuity of its construction. Each artist brings their own unique perspective, revealing new dimensions of this iconic piece.

Several versions of the Shark Lock Boot were selected for the project, each showcasing the boot’s versatility and craftsmanship. These include a wedge model in ivory-colored leather, adorned with three bi-colored silver and gold buckles; versions in black lambskin or cheetah-effect leather, embellished with Givenchy’s signature gold padlock; a biker boot in washed denim that echoes the brand’s ready-to-wear collection; and a classic Shark Lock boot in red python leather, a standout hue for the season.

This project also spotlights Givenchy’s iconic bags, which have been reimagined in sophisticated materials, various sizes, and seasonally inspired colors and finishes. Among these is the Shark Lock Bucket bag from the Fall-Winter 2024 collection, available in soft black lambskin with gold accents, or in an ecru/beige leather version adorned with shearling and silver details.

Givenchy continues to lead the way in pushing the boundaries of style and creativity, and this project is yet another example of their innovative spirit. The Shark Lock Boot Project is a creative journey that redefines the relationship between art and fashion, offering a new perspective on a beloved classic.
