GIVENCHY’S FW25 WOMEN RTW COLLECTION
By Iris JEANSON
“To go forward, you have to go back to the beginning. To me, that’s about the atelier. It’s the heart and soul of Givenchy.” Says Sarah Burton as she marks her debut as Artistic Director of Givenchy. This collection is a tribute to craftsmanship, inspired by a remarkable discovery: original patterns from Hubert de Givenchy’s 1952 collection, found hidden at his first maison at 8 Avenue Alfred de Vigny during renovations. This revelation set the foundation for her collection, emphasizing cut, shape, tailoring, and the interplay of masculine and feminine forms.
In the historic Givenchy maison at 3, Avenue George V, Burton presents strong-shouldered tailoring, reimagined silhouettes, and daring contrasts. Chantilly lace dresses are cropped, bullet bras add an edge, and bows and scarves transform into sculptural accessories. The iconic white shirt evolves into a dress, bridging tradition and modernity. She says “ I want to address everything about modern women. Strength, vulnerability, emotional intelligence, feeling powerful or very sexy. All of it.”
Accessories reinforce her vision. Sculptural footwear ranges from tulle mules to latex boots, while handbags, including The Pinch and The Facet, merge elegance with innovation. Jewellery reinterprets couture elements with pearls, crystal, and shattered-glass designs.
By blending heritage with contemporary vision, Burton redefines Givenchy’s future—powerful, sensual, and meticulously crafted.
