GUCCI ANNOUNCES IT HAS BECOME CARBON NEUTRAL

By Crash

Continuing its long-standing efforts to reduce its environmental impacts and create positive change, Gucci announced today that the company annually offsets all remaining greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its operations and the entire supply chain through four strategic REDD+ projects that support forest protection around the world. Gucci’s supply chain now offsets all its carbon emissions, an unprecedented commitment that is an example of respect for sustainable development in the luxury and fashion industries.

« A new era has begun in terms of corporate responsibility and we must focus on taking all necessary measures to mitigate our impacts, including being transparent and accountable on our GHG emissions across all our supply chains, » said Marco Bizzarri, CEO of Gucci.

As the number one priority of its carbon neutrality approach, Gucci has implemented a series of initiatives around low-impact sustainable and alternative materials, sustainable sourcing and production efficiencies to avoid and reduce its impacts throughout the supply chain. These initiatives are already delivering promising results by avoiding the emission of nearly 440,125 tonnes of CO2 in 2018, results that will only get worse. Then, as a final measure to support these efforts on an annual basis, Gucci will offset the remaining GHG emissions from the entire supply chain by supporting the protection and rehabilitation of vital ecosystems around the world.
