GUCCI ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH COMME DES GARÇONS

By Crash

Gucci has just announced its collaboration with Comme des Garçons on the iconic Japanese fashion house’s shopper bag. The two houses may seem different but they’re not totally opposite: One is the representation of unconventional beauty and theatricality while the other explores exotic ornementations, esoteric symbols and 60s/70s subcultures. They both have a taste for the bizarre and never shy away from unexpected prints or silhouettes. Together, they wanted to explore new creative paths and join forces on a blank canvas. The shopper bag proved perfect for that.

The bag is made of kraft paper protected by a transparent plastic case, giving it an industrial aspect. The classic Gucci red and green Web ribbon is added to the bag on top of the CDG logo, giving it the update it needed. The two legends, Alessandro Michele and Rei Kawakubo, unite in what looks to be the bag of the Christmas season. It was premiered in Japan on November 23rd at Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market Ginza. It will be officially launched on December 5th internationally.
