The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) was abuzz with a unique blend of artistry and elegance on the evening of Saturday, November 4, as Gucci unveiled its 2023 Art+Film Gala. The event, a confluence of the art, film, fashion, and entertainment sectors, served as the stage for Gucci’s Creative Director, Sabato De Sarno, to introduce « Ancora Notte, » his inaugural eveningwear collection, marking a significant foray into formal menswear.

The gala, which paid homage to the talents of artist Judy Baca and filmmaker David Fincher, was chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and celebrated actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The evening was further graced by the presence of Gucci President & CEO Jean-François Palus. The attendees were treated to a culinary experience by Chef Mattia Agazzi of Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Beverly Hills, a three-time Michelin Star Award Winner, followed by a special performance by the legendary Lenny Kravitz.

« Ancora Notte » is not just a collection but a continuation of the narrative that began with Gucci Ancora, the debut show that redefined the House’s wardrobe for daytime. « Ancora Notte » is a celebration of nocturnal glamour, an ode to the vibrancy of life after dusk. The collection was showcased by a stellar lineup of top models, including Mariacarla Boscono, Vittoria Ceretti, Kirsty Hume, and Abbey Lee, alongside fresh faces like Jiahui Zhang, Fadia Ghaab, Nyajuok, Violet Hume, Heather Strongarm, Agel Akol, Camilla Orner, and Sam Case, who had their debut at the Gucci Ancora runway.

The gala also served as a platform for the unveiling of Sabato De Sarno’s first venture into formal menswear. A-list celebrities such as A$AP Rocky, Elliot Page, Andrew Garfield, and Pedro Pascal donned the new designs, which featured the classic Italian ‘90s straight fit, now revitalized with the archival Round Interlocking G button. This detail is set to become a hallmark of the brand, a nod to Gucci’s storied past as it strides into the future.

The 2023 LACMA Art+Film Gala, with Gucci’s « Ancora Notte » at its heart, was not just an evening of recognition but also a testament to the enduring synergy between different forms of creativity. It underscored Gucci’s commitment to the arts and its continuous pursuit of innovation under the aegis of Sabato De Sarno’s visionary direction.
