GUCCI MEN’S A/W 2020

By Crash

For the Gucci men’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection, Alessandro Michele decided to work around the on-going debate on the evolution of masculinity and what it means in society today. Men are distancing themselves more and more from the clichés relative to their gender and clothing plays an integral part in that emancipation. Michele has worked on gender fluid clothes for a very long time and it seems fitting for him to push these questions even further. For this collection, the designer delved into remnants of his childhood with pieces fit for children like mini frilled dresses worn on jeans or small uniform jackets in pastel colors. School shoes were worn with high socks and shrinked fuzzy sweaters looked like they were made by the models’ moms. Some elements harkened back to eras of grunge and glam rock with metallic flared pants and a very Courtney Love leopard coat – The shadow of Kurt Cobain could also be seen in the baggy denim and layered knits looks.
