By Crash redaction

This seasons collection has been several years in the making for Harris Reed.  Entitled ’60 Years a Queen’ after the book on the reign of Queen Victoria, which in a serendipitous moment during his time at Central Saint Martins, a copy which of fell upon some lo-fi photocopies of Mick Jagger taken in the mid-70s.  The juxtaposition between the two became the source of the spectrum of inspirations for Harris Reed.

The collections looks at how the « club-kid » scene has long borrowed from regal attire.  Lace-tailoring in retro cuts and jewel tones along with drapery, masks and takes on ceremonial crowns that play with proportion and volume challenge the confines of gender and identity with a glam-rock sensibility attributed to Harris Reed. ’60 Years a Queen » marks the first time Reed has been able to create in a fully functioning studio and industry, giving the collection a refinement, the fruition of his exploration of a demi-couture status seen in the construction and technique of the collection.  100 year old upholstery fabrics have been transformed to create the looks upholding Reed’s focus on a sustainable practice.
