HEADS OR TAILS: MARINE SERRE’S FW25
By Iris JEANSON
Marine Serre’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection set at La Monnaie de Paris delves into a deep conversation between illusion, symbolism, and heritage. Questioning financial norms, she offers guests a symbolic coin marked with the moon and her profile, a sign of empowerment and freedom.
At 30, Serre embraces a new creative maturity. The collection’s 47 looks balance structure and sensuality, with cinched waists and femme fatale references. The opening catsuit nods to Irma Vep, while moon-tattooed leather sculpts the body. Upcycled biker pants are transformed into couture, and leather dominates accessories like the Aurora bag and Ms Crush heels.
A pioneer of eco-futurism, Serre reinvents forgotten objects, coins, medals, watches, questioning value and time. Her palette shifts from white to black, punctuated by deep red, inspired by David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. Trompe-l’œil techniques blur perception, while an oversized puffer pays tribute to André Leon Talley.
The accessories include the Aurora bag, Ms Crush heels, and Heads or Tails jewelry, featuring a gold coin motif. Music by Para One enhances the collection’s hypnotic and captivating tone. With an ode to Angelo Badalamenti, Serre deepens the Lynchian reference, closing on a sentimental note, a finale evoking a shared spiritual connection. Marine Serre solidifies her artistic voice—bold, radical, and poetic.
