HODAKOVA SPRING/SUMMER 2025: REIMAGINING RADICAL SIMPLICITY
By Max Mendel
Where fashion has been saturated with excess and ornamentation, Hodakova strips it back to its essence, proving that minimalism can still provoke and inspire. The showstopper? A gown constructed entirely from zippers—layered in a figure-hugging silhouette that flares into cascading, fringe-like strips at the hem, creating a breathtaking movement as the model glides down the runway. These zippers map across the body like geological formations, a tribute to nature’s organic beauty.
Throughout the collection, everyday items take on new life. Boots are transformed into armour-like pieces, with tasset-like structures guarding the thighs through doubled-ended thigh-high boots, while buttons, belts, and collars become the focal points of full ensembles. Hodakova’s talent for elevating the simplest of materials into high fashion remains unparalleled, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with found objects and sustainable design.
The dim-lit chamber of Place Vendôme set the stage for Hodakova’s exploration of memory and attachment. The garments, woven from personal nostalgia, draw inspiration from her Swedish upbringing. One particularly poetic piece—a maxi dress made from repurposed oil painting canvases—paints a landscape of the designer’s childhood as if the model is stepping through the horizon itself.
Collaborations with Havaianas and CHIMI punctuate the collection with innovative footwear and sunglasses, adding a futuristic yet playful edge to Hodakova’s reinterpretation of minimalist fashion.
Hodakova’s « Conventional Collection » Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a testament to the power of reimagining the familiar, offering a glimpse into a future where sustainability and storytelling lead the charge.
