HOMME PLISEÉ ISSEY MIYAKE PRESENTS ITS SPRING-SUMMER 25 COLLECTION

By Chloe Edstein

The HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE Spring Summer 2025 collection, Up, Up, and Away, was showcased at the Mobilier national. This collection finds its inspiration in the wind: the effects it produces, the vehicles and items influenced by the wind, and the forms that represent it. From utilizing lightweight materials to refining the shape of silhouettes, the creation and production of this collection have been carefully considered to enable clothes that respond and animate with the airflow to be worn effortlessly. This radiant collection, propelled by the wind, further delves into the capabilities of our pleating technology.

The distortion of the WINDSWEPT PLAID print captures the movement of the wind. A tartan pattern, floating in the air and subjected to a strong wind, is frozen in motion to bring this print to life.

The movement of the wind is captured in the WINDSWEPT PLAID print through its distorted appearance. This print brings a tartan pattern to life by freezing it floating in the air influenced by a strong wind.

In the WINDSWEPT SHIRT series, the shirts are meticulously hand-pleated using a light and airy fabric. The simple silhouettes feature curved pleats that resemble wind-blown waves, with the addition of a long integrated tie that can be tied or left to sway in the wind.

The KITE series draws inspiration from the structure of a kite, resulting in garments that take on a sculptural shape when worn, akin to a kite twirling in the sky. The voluminous silhouettes in this series can be adjusted using the button fastening system.

The FRESHEN collection utilizes a combination of recycled nylon and cotton to create a unique blend. The fabric’s washed finish and vibrant colours contribute to a naturally soft feel in the garment. Both the jacket and pants are equipped with spacious square pockets.

The PARACHUTE series of short coats and jackets features straps designed to resemble the harness of an actual parachute. These straps are purposely crafted to encourage air circulation when worn, causing the coat and jacket to expand and form a soft, rounded silhouette. Additionally, there is a hidden inner belt that allows for easy rolling up and fastening, facilitating convenient transportation.

The design of the KITE COAT draws inspiration from the way a kite’s architecture bends in the wind, featuring double stitching and curved seams. Just like a kite is folded into its cover, this coat can be folded into its pocket.

The MC JANUARY series coats come in a range of vibrant colours and boast a soft, rounded silhouette. With additional openings in the arms, the sleeves can elegantly float in the wind, allowing for versatile styling options.

Issey Miyake SS25 Homme Plissé is as light as the wind, a gentle force billowing through this fashion season.
