IRIS VAN HERPEN SS16 PARIS FASHION SHOW

For her Spring-Summer 2016 show, Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen imagined a futuristic collection made of honeycomb dresses, frayed hems and metallic pleats, which she named « Quaquaversal », meaning « going off in all directions ». The guests assisted to a live performance of Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie who laid on a round table set in the middle of the stage. While the models were walking the runway, a fishnet dress was getting 3D-printed all over her body and three animatronic sculptures started surrounding her. It is not the first time that Iris Van Herpen bought 3D printing into her collections, however she continues to fascinate us with the way she succeeds to combine modern craftsmanship such as laser-cutting and hand-weaving, and technology, creating a wearable multidimensional collection, and offering us a unique experience at the same time.
