ON THE RUNWAY AT ISSEY MIYAKE SS17
Yoshiyuki Miyamae presents a collection called « Microcosm » for spring-summer 2017. Inspired by the recreative essence of nature, the blossoming of flowers and growth of trees – as the show notes mentioned – the collection allows technology and a conceptualized vision of fashion to meet. In this microcosm of beauty, fabric treatments are yet again the main focus and transcend the notion of clothing. Throughout the collection, a technique taken from sportswear and called « cut & stick » is used to create brand new textiles with collages resulted from heat treatment. « 3D Steam Stretch » and « Baked Stretch » techniques are still Issey Miyake’s staples and find new interpretations and shapes. Whether Yoshiyuki Miyamae’s Issey Miyake collections are considered wearable art or simply genius ready-to-wear, the designer continues to find news ways to makes the pioneering House blossom.
