JUNYA WATANABE SPRING-SUMMER 2017 PARIS
By Crash redaction
ON THE RUNWAY AT JUNYA WATANABE SS17
Following last season’s geometrical experimentations, Junya Watanabe dives further into three-dimensional shapes with a collection deeply inspired by the punk and underground scene. Extravagant, thorn-like pieces grow out of branded shirts and add to the dramatic effect provided by the grungy styling: a running dark eye, no eyebrow, and short, eccentric hair. The collection has that instant streetwear appeal, and shows great separates that can be worn instantly out of the runway. Still the silhouettes put together are true show-stoppers, and Watanabe creates this balance between ready-to-wear and fantasy that makes his approach to fashion so unique.
