KENZO A/W 2020: A VISION BY FRANK PERRIN

By Crash

The Kenzo A/W 2020 show was the place to be yesterday, as everyone was anxious to discover Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s first collection as creative director of the house. And it did not disappoint! The show started with a striking all-black ensemble and a mysterious hat that covered a good portion of the face with a long cape attached. That detail was what ran through the collection: hats and headpieces that hid the models’ eyes. Looks were mostly minimal and monochrome, in shades of forest green, anthracite and chocolate brown. There was a flowing tunic with amazing colorful prints, a long oversized bright blue coat, and nomadic wool hooded sweaters. The accessories were quite practical and reminiscent of travel and hiking: chic leather crossbody bags, bottle holders, soft leather bucket bags… Feline prints on dresses and tunics were a nice nod to the Kenzo logo while steering the house in another, more minimalist directon. Utilitarian pockets and soft-hued windbreakers completed the collection which told the story of a lost voyage through different landscapes.
