KENZO COLLABORATES WITH KANSAIYAMAMOTO

By Crash

Felipe Oliveira Baptista is presenting a collaboration which seems like it’s meant to be. He is uniting the two first Japanese designers to grace the European runways with their collection: Kenzo in Paris at the end of the 1960s and Kansai Yamamoto in London at the beginning of the 1970s who both share many similarities and common obsessions. As two pioneers of western and eastern culture fusing, they have led the way to many international designers setting up a career outside of their native country.  Both obsessed with fauna and flora, they’ve countlessly reinterpreted the traditional representation of animals in Japanese art. Oliveira Baptista was keen on bringing together two singular souls of fashion, crossing references and time frames.

Many patterns and artworks from Kansai’s archives have been reworked and mixed with archives from Kenzo. To bring the cool, laid-back and artistic atmosphere of the collaboration, the models are young Parisians creatives: actors, photographers and unique souls.

Discover the campaign below. The collection will be available from November 30th in Kenzo stores and on the Kenzo website.
