DISCOVER KENZO’S LATEST COLLABORATION WITH THE BLUE MARINE FOUNDATION

For their third time collaborating with the Blue Marine Foundation (Blue), the charity dedicated to the preservation of the oceans, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon designed a limited-edition carré scarf in order to continue supporting an initiative they strongly believe in. Blue was founded in 2010 by George Duffield, Charles Clover and Chris Gorell Barnes in order to help find solutions to the burning issue our oceans represent. Progress has been made over the past years: today, the British government announced the creation of the world’s largest marine reserve around the Pitcairn islands in the Pacific Ocean, in which Blue has played a decisive role. Though, there is still work to be done, and the Foundation continues to  campaign pour further locations to be protected as well. In the Pitcairn islands, more than 1,200 marine species have been recorded, including fish, turtles, dolphins, whales, seabirds and corals. Forty-eight of these species are threatened, the hawksbill turtle being one of many. In practice, Blue hopes to reach the protection of 10% of the world’s oceans by 2020, mostly by regulating fishing with sustainable models and creating large scale marine reserves.

Sensitive to the issue, Kenzo has been supportive of Blue since 2013. The first campaign, « No Fish No Nothing » (2013/14) was an international success, both for the Blue Marine Foundation and a success in stores. Following this impactful campaign, the French brand designed an exclusive « Blue Marine Blue » Tiger sweater, launched at the end of 2014. Today, the third collaboration takes the form of a 100% silk, ocean-blue carré scarf with a Tiger motif next to the tuna, figure of the Blue Foundation.

The limited-edition scarf will be available as from October 2015 in Kenzo stores worldwide, on www.kenzo.com, and in selected Kenzo partner stores around the world.
