DISCOVER « HANGING GARDEN », A KRIS RUHS EXHIBITION

From October 23rd to December 27th, Paris’ Galerie Azzedine Alaïa is offering its public the chance to experience an exhibition unlike any other. The gallery, located in the very popular area of Le Marais, gives American artist Kris Ruhs his first Parisian solo show under a dreamlike title: Hanging Garden (Jardin Suspendu). In the spaces of the gallery, the 63-year-old artist transcends the concepts of sculptural art ans design, and delivers an installation that reads like a poem. Hanging from curved structures, nearly 45.000 handmade fragments of procelain and copper create a vertical cascade, much like an autumnal vision frozen in time. Here, Ruhs shows his masterful technique and his ability to push the boundaries of goldsmithery and sculpture, while showing a sharp eye for monumental yet deeply humble scenography. Coming closer, each fragment strikes as a unique piece, each one being different from the other. From multiplicity and diversity comes unity – and at the end of the day, beauty. Kris Ruhs’ Hanging Garden may well be a reflection on what makes us human.

Discover Hanging Garden, Jardin Suspendu at Galerie Azzedine Alaïa from October 23rd to December 27th, 18 Rue de la Verrerie 75004, Paris.
