LES IMAGES PERDUES COVER THE WALLS OF ARLES

By Crash

The Rencontres de la Photographie which take place every Summer in the city of Arles since 1970 have had to be cancelled since the whole world is struck by new regulations. But with bad news comes new initiatives and Olivier Saillard and Gaël Mamine were determined to offer a new kind of exhibition, free and visible to each and everyone, whether it be curious tourists or Arlesians. On the walls, facades and doors of the city, appear photos from Peter Lindbergh, Paolo Roversi, Jean-Baptiste Mondino and more, revealing themselves like lost images in an open sky exhibition.

The photographs, edited under the formats of posters, of different formats will inevitably undergo the hazard of time, eventually disappearing after the sun, the rain and the wind pass through. The subjects and themes exposed reflect a form of desertion, of economy of means… and an aridity from which the poetic format of each of them can blossom even more freely. Organized with the sponsorship of Cellule Archives, the Image Perdues exhibition is visible through August 31.
