LEVI’S® X SONIC YOUTH: A LIMITED-EDITION COLLECTION
By Iris JEANSON
Levi’s® pays tribute to legendary New York alternative rock band Sonic Youth with an exclusive collection of vintage-inspired t-shirts. The collection reproduces some of the band’s rarest and most iconic merch, including the teddy mug shots of the rabbit and the orange alien by artist Mike Kelley that figures on the cover of Sonic Youth’s 1992 album Dirty.
Sonic Youth, pioneers of experimental rock since 1981, left an enduring mark on music. Though the band disbanded in 2011, its influence continues, with members still shaping the rock scene. Sonic Youth said, “Rock bands have always worn Levi’s®. We’re thrilled to collaborate on this collection to make some noise and share our message.”
The collection features four t-shirts, including the Bomb Pop ice cream graphic, the washing machine print, the rabbit mugshot, and the Dirty Alien graphic. Each piece is color-matched to its original design and features ‘90s-style woven labels for authenticity.
The collection is part of Levi’s® ongoing music-inspired releases, including collaborations with Joy Division, New Order, and Oasis.
