LOLO ZOUAI RELEASES MINI-EP TITLED ‘PLEASE HOLD’

By Temoso Mohuba

Lolo Zouaï unveils her new EP Please Hold. The French-born American artist known for her pop records fused with R&B and trap influences will release two songs that return to R&B roots. The songs will be performed in both English and French as usual, setting a precedent for more music to come.

The first track of the EP titled “UNHHH” glides along a trap-influenced beat with sultry vocals. Zouaï addresses the desire to meet someone new and the adrenaline that comes with it. Airy backing vocals flow in and out of the main melody creating a cohesive auditory experience. The next track “jetlag” is slower, highlighting her vocal abilities. With a light beat and layered backing vocals, Zouaï continues the theme of wanting to be with someone – despite time or distance barriers. The two songs emphasize her R&B roots and influences, showcased effortlessly through vocals, melody and overall cohesion.

Prior to this, Zouaï released an EP in 2023 titled Crying in the Carwash composed of 5 tracks. Following the release of this EP, she featured on hyperpop and dance sensation, SHYGIRL’s, EP titled Club Shy. Zouaï also released a remix of her song “Potential” with Canadian artist, Sadboi. She also added to her impressive list of credits by writing the song “Right Now’ for the international K-POP stars, New Jeans.

Zouaï has a Grammy Award under her belt for co-writing H.E.R’s “Still Down” from her self-titled album, opened for the North American leg of Dua Lipa’s critically acclaimed Future Nostalgia tour and was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 2023 list for musicians. She has garnered 500 million streams and completed her PLAYGIRL world tour in 2023. Additionally, Zouaï continues to partner with and feature in campaigns for brands like Nike, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior and more. Her tracks are also often featured in films and series on Netflix, and HBO with syncs from Fortnite and Jägermeister too.

Please Hold will be released on all streaming platforms on September 13, 2024.
