Loro Piana Interiors presents at Milan Design Week « Apacheta » the new project by Argentine artist and designer Cristián Mohaded.
Inside the Cortile della Seta (Silk Courtyard) at the Loro Piana headquarters in Milan, a real landscape full of atmosphere inspired by Andean tradition is installed.
The apacheta, the name of the project, are piles of stones that mark paths in the Andes.
These random architectural structures were built over the centuries by wayfarers traveling those disparate distances as a sign of thanksgiving to the spirit of Mother Earth. Wayfarer after wayfarer, stone by stone, the apacheta have grown into imposing towers that seem to touch the sky.

The apacheta have become the starting point of the journey Cristián Mohaded has taken alongside Loro Piana Interiors, paying homage to nature with a sustainable approach. The artist and the Maison share common values such as a passion for materials and craftsmanship, but also the value of origins; precisely, the common touch point is Argentina, specifically the province of Catamarca, where the artist was born and where above all Loro Piana procures one of its rarest and most iconic textile materials: the vicuña.

During the seven Milanese days dedicated to Design, the Cortile della Seta is transformed into a fantastic space in which twelve towers rise from the ground, reaching as high as 8 meters.
The stones are covered with Loro Piana Interiors fabrics from old collections that come back to life here. At the center of the Silk Courtyard, designer-designed furniture blends perfectly into this natural environment softened by Loro Piana’s soft materials.
The installation is open to the public during Milan Design Week, offering guests a unique opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view of the Cortile della Seta.
