MAISON MARGIELA MENSWEAR SPRING-SUMMER 2016 PARIS
By Crash redaction
The Maison Margiela Spring-Summer 2016 collection was presented on Friday, June 26 at Ground Control, a large industrial venue located in Paris 18th arrondissement. Underground, in a huge open space where daylight came though large ancient windows, the runway was set up with a minimalistic approach. As expected, the silhouettes were sharp and quite asymmetrical. There was also a rock’n’roll touch with the hobnailed boots and the metallic detailing here and there. Shapewise, it was an explosion of long, tailored overcoats and jackets. Pants were either slim cut or had two lengths in one, large and detached in the front, tailored in the back. The juxtaposition of layers gave the collection its particular interest: a great mix between uniquely cut pieces and highly wearable clothes.
