MAISON MARGIELA FALL-WINTER 2017/18 COLLECTION – PARIS
By Crash redaction
Maison Margiela’s Autumn-Winter 2017/2018 collection was more wearable than usual: trench coats, ecru suits, oversized sleeves and partially transparent dresses. Nevertheless, like a trompe-oeil effect, one finds, sprinkled delicately in the garment, some details that came to personalize it. Disjointed coats, hats that shed a trail of hair-like threads, perforated hat, fur boots, patchwork of cloth, thus recreated the sobriety of the garment. The most striking detail in this collection was undoubtedly the fur bags worn on the head by the mannequins. The collection also gave a special place to the combination of fluorescent colors on more sober colors, the superposition of clothing, and especially the symbiosis between different materials and textures such as patent leather, feathers, tweed, printed leather Python and fur. Between femininity and extravagance, John Galliano unfolds a collection rich in colors, in creativity without falling into the easy fantasy.
