This season Marni Fall Winter 2016 collection is all about shapes. Consuelo Castiglioni, creative director at Marni, explores « roundness » in all pieces, creating a collection at times modern and romantic. The rounded forms are evident in the proportions of dresses, from rounded sleeves to rounded collars, but also of capes with rounded shoulders and in skirts or trousers details. A classic color palette made of peacock blue, khaki, hunter green, camel and beige is spruced up from time to time with Harlequin pieces and Liberty’s inspired prints and decorated with paillettes, bows and pearls. The rounded sleeved shirts are paired with mink fur shoulder moulding capes and tailored high waisted trousers with with pockets on the sides. The same tailored model is reproduced on mid-lenght skirts and tailored straight coats in khaki and black. A touch of color is given by burgundy pencil-skirts with a rounded tear in the front to give a bit of newness to the whole outfit, but also by Harlequin’s prints on tops and dresses that remind us of Delaunay paintings. Fur is also revisited: it appears as a stole of on outfits details as collars of tartan jackets. In the end, few tailored off-white suits decorated with multicolored prints or large circled blue or yellow sequins give a final touch of creativeness to the Marni Fall-Winter 2016 collection.
On a beauty note, keeping on the sophisticated elegance signature of the house, the Marni woman is this season more romantic and dreamer, with a pale make-up and hairstyle inspired from the 20s and made stronger by dark red lipstick and dangly earrings.
