MARNI SS17: ON THE RUNWAY
Consuelo Castiglioni presents a collection of monochrome silhouettes exploring wider shapes. Large belts accentuate the waist area on long coats sporting oversized pockets. A few silhouettes feature pleats in all over with an asymmetrical treatment using strings to draw the silhouette and create new shapes, especially on the sleeves. The collection is very graphic, and though simple at first sight, it features a myriad of details that are so interesting and unique. Floral prints make an apparition, as well as a dazzling black & white print on one of the last looks. With a pastel color palette featuring accents of bright red and a earthly browns, the collection has an instant elegance and a presence that appeals to the eye. As styling goes, a messy/natural pulled-back hair embodies a contemporary vision, accentuated by big earrings and a graphic, low-heel shoe. The collection feels utilitarian, still the attention to detail and intricate shapes refer to the innate artistic influences that make the essence of Marni.
