MENTORS & PROTEGES SEVENTH CYCLE-ROLEX
By Crash redaction
The Rolex Mentor & Protégés Arts Initiative is about to launch its seventh cycle for 2014-2015. The program helps to support new and emerging young artists. The confirmed artists receive guidance from a mentor who will work with them, side by side over the course of a year, allowing this young generation to perpetuate the world’s artistic heritage. The program explores many different disciplines: architecture, dance, film, literature, music, theatre and visual arts. Mentors are selected by the Advisory Board from their various disciplines, where upon their confirmation of their participation in the program, Rolex assists them in the determation of their appropriate candidacy profile. The young artists are not permitted to apply directly, but instead must first be invited by Rolex before proceeding with their application. After the detailed and competitive selection is made, each protégé is able to work with his/her mentor on interactive artistic projects. Rolex recently unveiled the names of the 25 protégés finalists aged between 22 and 38 years old.
