In this season’s collection Miu Miu seeks to expand on the theme of girlishness; a fundamental part of the Miu Miu persona. Viewed as a state of mind, Miu Miu defines « girlishness » as free from gender binaries and expresses it in their Paris Fashion Week show through a casting that embraces a spectrum of different identities. A power can be found in girlishness and femininity, a strength in tenderness, a wisdom in youth. The show comes across as a proposal, an invitation for others to interpret a style with their own sense of self.

Proportions are reexamined, seen in the ultra low rise, ultra mini skirts and the cropped jackets and tops. The cropped looks are eye catching but also present are oversized polos and outerwear. A new balance is found through these proportions, “the notion of reworking existent pieces” is extended, logically, via upcycled leather pieces. Yet contradictions emerge – an obsession with tennis, paradoxical for winter, is expressed in brief pleated skirts and argyle knits.
