MIU MIU FW23

By Roisin Breen

In the Palais d’Iena the Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2023 girls paraded around in Miuccia Prada’s revisioning of classic, familiar items of clothing – twinsets, knee-length pencil skirts, hooded sweatshirts and classic tailored coats – revamped in Miuccia style. Think raised hemlines, sheer barely-there fabrics, sequined exposed undergarments and lowest of low denier stockings. The complexity of layered clothes, in Miuccia’s eye necessitates closer appraisal, an inquisitive mind, curiosity. Qualities the iconic designer herself is internationally celebrated for.

Opened by Mia Goth, the show included a star studded cast including Rick Braukis, Ethel Cain, Noen Eubanks, Amelia Grey, Sam Nivola, Mame Bineta Sane, Zaya Wade and Emma Corrin.

Accompanying the show was an installation by South Korean artist Geumhyung Jeong. Known for her performance-based work, the artist uses her body as her artistic medium, demanding an audience. The screens featured work by Jeong, specially created for the Miu Miu show, examining her relationship between her own body and clothing.
