MIU MIU SS22

By Crash redaction

Miu Miu unveils its’ SS22 collection.

Like rebellious adolescents heading back to school, Miuccia Prada chopped hemlines so short, skirts pretty much became belts and tops reminiscent of headbands. Like many current designers and street style influencers, the collection was not shy of Y2K references, Miuccia, however, reimagined the midriff bearing, thigh skimming silhouette of the era in early 90s executive lady tailoring and fabric, set to a neutral palette of navies, blues and beige.

The back to school vibe is somewhat reflective of the ‘back to normality’ mood across most of Europe at the moment. A return to working at the office, university and schools reopening, travel back on the cards, and even the return of the IRL fashion show. She gave us exaggeratedly short hemlines, unfinished seams, chunky socks paired with delicate kitten heels and androgynous styling to narrate the collective sense of a distorted reality. This was all your typical traditional pieces, nothing more complicated than tops, trousers, dresses and skirts, but all just done that little bit bit differently.

A house that has always known how to have fun, a selection of comedy sketches films projected into the Palais d’Iena by Morrocan artist Meriem Bennani to compliment the collection.
