MODES X NO FAITH STUDIOS SS24

By Roisin Breen

No/Faith Studios (NFS) is the trailblazing German-based fashion label known for its avant-garde designs. NFS is set to captivate the fashion world once again with the debut of its latest collection, « NATIONALPARK EIFEL. » This exclusive event took place a the Modes Boutique in Paris on September 27th, followed by a co-hosted party at Silencio, Paris. The collaboration marks a significant milestone for NFS, as Modes becomes the exclusive European retailer for this exciting new collection.

The « NATIONALPARK EIFEL » collection draws its inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes surrounding Germany’s Eifel Area, one of the nation’s largest nature reserves. The collection’s genesis can be traced to NFS’ Atelier, situated on the border of this natural wonderland, making it a fitting birthplace for this unique collection.

The collection embodies a nostalgic recollection of a day’s adventure in the national park. Its harmonious natural hues provide a striking counterpoint to the bold, frayed, and simultaneously alluring aesthetic that characterizes NFS’ founder and designer, Luis Dobbelgarten. The Eifel theme extends to « Eifel-Therme Zikkurat, » a wellness spa located within the national park, which served as the muse for select pieces in the collection.

The collection comprises provocatively bold silhouettes, swaying belts, and intentionally disheveled garments that convey illusions of entropy. However, it’s essential to recognize that each piece is meticulously curated, challenging the boundaries of conventional fashion.

A transformative visit to a leather factory in Napoli gave birth to a distinctive Camo Pattern introduced by NFS. This pattern, bearing NFS branding, is visible only to those who inspect it closely, showcasing the brand’s commitment to subtlety and detail. The stonewall-resembling graphic, printed on leather, evokes connotations of a weathered jacket, adding a layer of intrigue to the collection.

This collection takes NFS back to its roots, celebrating the beauty of nature and the utilitarian aesthetics informed by the uniforms of the working class. It echoes the limited work options for those raised in the Eifel, paying homage to the functional classic workwear of National Park rangers.

Luis Dobbelgarten, the designer and founder of No/Faith Studios, expressed the personal nature of this collection, stating, « Our newest collection is like a tour through my hometown area. Most people in Germany never even heard of the Eifel, capturing my surroundings and influences in 45 timeless looks makes it the most personal collection I could ever create. »

Aldo Carpinteri, Founder and Owner of Modes, spoke about the collaboration saying, « Modes was born out of the desire to create a unique and distinct entity unlike anything the retail market offered until a few years ago. The aim is to give life to various physical spaces worldwide connected through a large community founded on creativity and freedom of expression. »

He continued, « Modes is constantly growing, and I am happy to announce that after Paris, we will be opening a boutique in Conduit Street in London next December! With the addition of this store, we are expanding our European presence in anticipation of the USA launch scheduled for 2024. »

Regarding the collaboration with No/Faith Studios, Carpinteri stated, « We often aim and invest in projects for which the market isn’t ready yet, but this is not the case with the NFS team! They are truly talented, and their collection manages to communicate with great spontaneity to an entire generation of young people. The brand has a very strong identity and a community that is very hungry for creativity, and Modes provides them with storefronts in strategic international cities. These are definitely winning ingredients. »
