MONCLER MAYA 70 BY RICK OWENS

By Roisin Breen

Discover the Moncler Maya 70 by Rick Owens. Designed as part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, it’s the fourth in the seven part collaborative series containing seven interpretations by seven different designers.

Owens offers an architectural dimension to the Maya jacket. This reversible model in lacquered nylon, and back in recycled satin nylon, presents a reworked and exaggerated shoulder line. “I integrated architectural padded shoulders into the jacket – something I had already worked on in my men’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection, Gethsemane, presented during a show on the lido beach in Venice, Italy, during the lockdown. This work is a reference to shoulders that are symbolically meant to bear the weight of the contemporary world,” says Rick Owens, who chose Michèle Lamy to embody his creation for the campaign. Michèle represents the intimate foundation, past, present and future of my inspiration. Her raw, filterless elegance has always been one of my guiding stars. »
