WRAPPINGS: NEHERA SS16 COLLECTION

Nehera opens this first day of Paris Fashion Week with an invitation to the BETC space in the French capital’s 10th arrondissement. Called « Wrappings », the collection is a statement in itself and expresses the desire of creative director Samuel Drira to « find a new path to sartorial satisfaction through a uniform of individuality and functionality that transcends seasons, sexuality and style », said the press release found on the seats. This is indeed the impression that this collection transcends. The round and comforting shapes show a slight Asian inspiration with the interpretation of topstitched judo jackets. Nehera’s « uniform of individuality » is the fruit of its mutable nature: with its many layers, the collection is to be worn in so many ways that will express the wearer personal sense of style. There is also something intellectual about Drira’s approach, and not only because the majority of the models were sporting round metal glasses, but mostly in the meaning the designer gives to his creations. Beyond the notion of style, Nehera goes into the deeps of individual introspection.
