NOMADIC SILHOUETTES AT LOUIS VUITTON S/S 2019

By Crash

Contrasting with the down-to-earth ready-to-wear we are accustomed to see nowadays, this collection was rather up in another galaxy. Reuniting with his love of sci-fi themes present in his early works, Nicolas Ghesquière brought the Louis Vuitton woman to a new landscape, an imaginary world made of elements from reality and from our virtual version of it. Exaggerated shoulders made for a nod to the 80s (so dear to the designer), while high-tech fabrics and space shuttle prints were a fun way to anchor the models in space. While playing with volumes and proportions, the collection wasn’t too experimental and proved quite wearable and practical for the woman of today.
