CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE SS2016: A RUNWAY STORY

Paris, Chanel Haute Couture SS2016. Today, Chanel unveiled its Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2016 collection at the Grand Palais. The show took place in a magnificent setting which reminds us of the wooden doll-house we were used to play with during our childhood. Surrounded by a green and neat curated garden with well defined pathways used as runway, the venue seems to take inspiration from Japanese design. The collection, mainly in beige nuances colors and ivory, revisits the Chanel’s classics maintaining a sophisticated elegance which delicate taste makes it unique. The bucolic wardrobe is refined by wooden or sequins embroideries mounted as costume jewellery. Beige in all its form is without any doubt the color of this season: declined from ivory to bronze, from shiny to mat, the collection explores this color in honor of Gabrielle Chanel passion for it, as reminded by Karl Lagerfeld. The focal point of the collection is the silhouette. Rounded sleeved jackets are paired with long pencil-skirts in tweed, while fitted jackets with high waisted culottes. The ethereal dresses are made in chiffon, organza and other delicate materials as a sublimation of Chanel’s craftsmanship. Always faithful to the Maison’s tradition, the designer also reinterprets the typical Chanel belt, here transformed in smartphone pouches matching the outfits. For the evening, the outfits explore satin dresses, sometimes coming with fringed embroideries or feathers, with wide capes or short boleros jackets for more formal occasions.
